First edition, special binding. 298pp, frontis & 2 colour & 11 b&w illustrations, map. This copy has been bound in full red leather, with spine labels and raised bands, gilt decorations, and housed in a cloth-covered slipcase. All in fine condition. ***Not a publisher's binding - executed by the Dove Bindery of Melbourne, possibly for the Tasmanian bibliophile Peter Benson Walker. The edition was 1000 copies: the number bound thus is not known, possibly ten or so. A matching binding was made for a similar number of copies of the same publisher's Diary of the Reverend Robert Knopwood (1977).
